Kimberly Lankford has been a financial writer for more than 25 years, spending most of her career as the “Ask Kim” columnist at Kiplinger’s Personal Finance Magazine. She has also written personal finance articles for the Washington Post, U.S. News & World Report, Boston Globe, AARP the Magazine, Bloomberg Wealth Manager, Military Officer and many other publications. She and her husband renovated an 1892 warehouse in downtown Lynchburg into their home, and they enjoy spending time with their dog at their cabin on the James River in Monroe, Va. Their family’s experience on the James prompted their son, Will, to become a whitewater rafting guide, and he has spent the past four summers working on the Hudson River in the Adirondacks. Kim also serves on the board of the Downtown Lynchburg Association.
