Fred Jeter
Fred Jeter grew up on a multi-generational farm in Botetourt County where he worked from his childhood through college. He earned a degree in finance at James Madison University and began his career in Northern Virginia. An opportunity with Hewlett Packard took Fred to Germany in 1996, where he lived and worked a total of eighteen years. In 2003 he earned an MBA from Erasmus University in The Netherlands. Upon graduating, Fred began work as an Area Director with USO, a non-profit supporting military members and their families. He transferred back to Virginia in 2014 and managed transition and education programs for military members and later was an Area Director managing operations in the central and southern United States. In 2019, Fred returned to his roots and home in Botetourt County. He served as Director of Housing and Community Development at South East Rural Community Assistance Project (SERCAP). He retired in 2025 and is an engaged resident in Botetourt County and surrounding area. Fred enjoys hiking, biking and gardening. He is civically involved in the Roanoke Master Gardener program and a member of the Roanoke Kiwanis Club where he holds committee, board and foundation positions.
